I mean, we just have this random number which does so much. We never encounter anyting like it again.
If you were counting up in 0.000000000000000000000001s you would not find anything interesting for ages. Then suddenly you reach 3.1415926535897932384626433832975028841971 and suddenly you are very close to something interesting. Then we can just keep counting and never find anything like that again.
If you add 1.1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 to it to get 4.25270..., you no longer have a number that is so useful?
How is this possible. I just find it very confusing?Read more >
Today is national pi day so I thought I would tell you a little bit about how to calculate pi.
Pick any random number to be n. Then use the equation n(sin(180/n) to give you a rough approximation of pi. The higher the value of n, the closer you get to pi. n=5 doesn't even get you to 3 but n=100,000 gets you to 3.141592653...Read more >
